What is a Travel & Training Tour or Camp?

Rick Tew’s NinjaGym® 2-8 week Camp or Tour is a one-size-fits-all program that offers private group Mixed Martial Arts / Ninja Training, realistic self-defense for woman and men that also includes Travel Adventure in California or Thailand.

We bring balance to your Mind (with the mental martial arts therapy of Winjitsu), strength to the Body (by doing Martial Arts & Fitness) and fulfillment to the Spirit (through outdoor adventure, human interaction and travel adventure tours).

  • Learn how to defend yourself
  • Be a Ninja warrior
  • Lose pounds fast
  • Climb, hike, and camp in California or Thailand

We offer a new way of life (even if it is temporary) and a chance to meet other people. Rick Tew educates and trains motivated individuals. Martial arts experience is NOT required.

Can we help with your goals?

At the foundation of every NinjaGym® camp is a martial art system created by Rick Tew.  However, we realize that people have different needs.  So we have a unique program that specifically targets these needs while still providing the right level of martial arts and fitness.

Some participants want to learn the hardcore system and push their limits in the martial arts, some people are beginners and only want a few hours a day of self-defense training while getting the chance to focus on improving or changing their lives.  Some students want to practice full-contact sparring and jiu-jitsu grappling while others have no interest in getting hit in the face.

While one person might want to lose 30 pounds, another may only want a vacation that also includes learning a new routine for a healthy diet and lifestyle.  Although we offer one complete program, we also target the challenges and specific needs of the individual too.  You can benefit from each program regardless of your background.

Train Like a Ninja

One of Rick’s signature statements that he likes to use as a follow up to any action is, “Like a Ninja.”  If you are going to stand, then stand like a Ninja. Want to  fight? Then, fight like a Ninja.  One of the ways we do this best is through the following three part process to our program that includes; awesome martial arts training, outdoor adventure, and amazing people. If you are going to train, adventure or spend time with others, then do it Like a Ninja. Below are the 5 key areas of training that CMS offers so you can train Like a Ninja.

What you get with our 5X Training

We teach Martial Arts Therapy and lifelong “strategies for success” through a unique coaching system called WINJITSU. It combines the mind and the martial arts from more than 20 years of experience to help you BE a Ninja in what you DO. Rick Tew wrote 5 books to help students with this education. Learn more here.

We use the latest concepts in fitness to provide fun yet effective exercise routines that develop the 5 key areas of physical health.  They are, Strength, Agility, Flexibility, Endurance and Cardio. Mainly, we do shorter workouts like HIIT for ultimate results and Rick Tew teaches a Ninja Yoga class for longer sessions. Learn more here.

Most of our training is outside in beautiful parks. We also take road trips for optional adventures like hiking, climbing and camping.  We organize our travel and training tours with the focus of making life a BLAST, which is an actual training system for feeling great in the now. Learn more here.

Our self-defense system is for women and men equally. It is called PSC or the Personal Security Course. You will learn realistic strategies designed around your own skills and abilities. Regardless of who you are, where you work, or where you live, the possibility of needing self-defense skills are equal for everyone.  Learn more here.

Our focus is on teaching a very well-rounded martial art system.  We call it Ninja-MMA, but it is Rick Tew’s Martial Science system.  It is a complete program with 5 levels and ranks. We sell a book with the entire training list for each ranking level and what is required for those that want certification.  Learn more here.

Disconnect to Reconnect

It’s what the D.R, ordered.  To Disconnect to Reconnect is our way of saying – leave the electronics or mobile phones out of reach for a while. Let’s be honest, we all love our tech and we use a lot of it at CMS, but there comes a time when checking your phone every second or having to take a selfie for every activity becomes mentally tiresome and unhealthy.  Even though others may engage in checking their emails while glamping in the Grand Canyon, you can choose to leave these devices at home and arrive to us au-naturel and untethered.  Please don’t disconnect with your clothes though.

Rick Tew's BLAST Travel California

Just say, "HI"

And by the request above, we mean to say, “Hi.” in person. HI or H.I. stands for Human Interaction. A thumbs up on Facebook does not qualify.  We are talking about real, in-person experiences with other human beings and adopting the philosophy of HI.  This requires making choices. When you stop for gas, go inside and pay.  Why? Because it is an act of Human Interaction. We put people together because believe in quotes like this:

Happiness is only real when shared.

Martial Arts Therapy

Social psychologists agree that buying more stuff just doesn’t make you happier. Time Magazine stated, “Buying more stuff actually makes you miserable.” So let’s kick-2-start that happiness meter by engaging in worthwhile activities that challenge you.

Rick now teaches Tew core areas of focus that every person should work hard to obtain.  They are fulfillment in their work and how to take action and execute towards their dreams. These are not easy to achieve.  Most people loathe their jobs and few understand the power that lies within being in an industry that you love.

There is much more to life than money and just because you have a job or a career, it does not mean that you have a life.

5 Reasons to Join this Once in a Lifetime Program:

You get awesome training in 5 actual organized programs for personal growth.  Come for the California martial arts camp and get the benefits of the other programs too.  The same goes for someone looking to kick start their life or reboot their energy level. We have an organized set of strategies to help you be your best.

Want to lose a few pounds fast and have fun getting in better shape? Maybe you want to do the splits or have always been curious about gymnastics.  For most, they will just want to lose added fat and gain some strength in a way that works.  Whatever your goals, we are focused on helping you reach them too.

Would you like walk the streets with more confidence in self-defense? Maybe you’d like to feel more capable in an emergency.  Do you want to learn simple psychological strategies to keep you from becoming a “deer caught in headlights”? Feeling secure is a mental martial art skill that everyone should have in their personal toolbox.

Okay, who doesn’t want to be a Ninja?  It’s not too late to learn to move like Jackie Chan or spin a Nunchaku like Bruce Lee.  Even if you are too old to count your toes, you can learn something new and exciting with our modern Ninjitsu system.  Roll, punch, kick, stand, fall and wield a weapon like a true Ninja.

Students of CMS often comment how they have been to more places and done more things on our martial art camp than they have their entire lives.  Whatever your excuse, it ends with us because we love being outside.  But don’t worry, if you don’t want to Disconnect to Reconnect, we offer Ninja Glamping to make it super cozy too.

One Program Many Benefits:

There is a lot of variety and various teachings that we include in our Martial Arts Camps. Each of our 5 parts of our martial arts training camp is also a complete program in its entirety.

No two classes are the same and we conduct each class like a mini-workshop or seminar so that you can gain new insights every day of training.

For those that want to master the basics of Martial Arts, Mind Power and Diet.  There are some basic (optional) periods that are available for repetition each day. The concepts that focus on daily repeated training for continuous growth are:

Martial Arts  – Stance, Rolls & Falls, Strikes & Kicks, Weapons, and Body Movement.

Fitness – Strength, Agility, Flexibility, Endurance and Cardio.

Mind – Fulfillment, Taking Action, Goal setting, Confidence building, and overcoming fears or past experiences.

Diet & Health – Intermittent Fasting, Ketogenic, Low Carb, Detox, and Supplementation.

Please note that in order to develop healthy habits and routines, it’s best to get a minimum of 2 weeks of repeated strategies. The longer you can focus, the more likely they will stick.

You can let us know what you would like to focus on and we will keep a mental note of your desired goals and focus.

More than 20  Years Teaching

Master Instructor Rick Tew

Focused on Martial Arts and NinjaGym Training, Rick offers top-notch multi-martial arts training and a Master to Student relationship.

Rick Tew is also educator in how to BE the best possible you, find fulfillment and how to DO the most with your life and skills.

Students talk About Rick

Let’s see, well he’s unpredictable so you can never really expect to know what will happen. So combine that with Easy going and no fortune teller in the world will figure out where the hell he’ll be a week from now. His method of teaching is awesome, very clear and simple. The way his classes are organized are also fun since they are not repetitive. He’s also an overall fun guy, does pretty much everything with the students. He LAN parties (computer gaming) with us (more like we LAN party with him).

-Cedric C.

Rick Tew is a unique man to say the least. He walks a path tread by few.  He is someone who enjoys his life to the fullest of his desires and lives by his code of freedom in his personal choices. He is not one to have an idea and fear to try and make it happen and as the saying “carpe diem” goes… he truly does seize his day. Use a keen eye, an open ear and a filed down tongue and you can find out how as well.

His way of thought and development is something that I have never experienced before meeting him. His strategies may be hard for most, but stick to it and it will work.

If you have the will, then he helps you find your way.  I had always been looking for more out of what I was doing with my life, but was not sure where to find it. Rick Tew is the one man, who thanks to his direct and indirect influence has put me on a path to something greater than what I can I can put into words.

Rick is unlike any other Martial arts instructor you’ll meet. In the classroom he is tough, but fair. You will receive no special treatment whatsoever. In the beginning you think he is being rude or unjust, but you soon learn (although you may not understand his motives) he knows best. So if you’re doing a hundred push ups for saying, “um” don’t be surprised!  But when we’re not training he’s just one of the guys – we go out for pizza (he’ll eat rabbit food) watch a film or even play a few hours of Half Life multiplayer! Rick is a sound advisor he’s been there done that and mass produced the T-shirt, so use listen to his advice well.

Mark W. – Portsmouth – England

The better question would be- what is not unique about Rick? Training with Rick is not like training with a normal Sensei in a normal dojo. You give Rick respect not because he demands it or because its protocol but because he has earned it. He is just as much a friend to his students as he is a teacher, and he is always looking out for the student’s best

Josiah L. – Chattanooga, Tennessee – USA

The way he teaches his system, he helps you get interested in many aspects of the martial training. He is one of the only adults I know that is in better shape than many younger people who also exercise often.

Carlos P. – Durango – Mexico

To try to put Sensei into a clearly defined box that would sum up his entire being is probably impossible. He’s a good guy once you get to know him, and understand what he’s trying to accomplish. While some people might think that he can be a little too sporadic at times, I view it as just an overall eagerness to keep things always improving. He is a very focused man who knows what he would like to get out of life, and then strives to achieve it.

Richard N. – Galveston, Texas – USA

He doesn’t let his Sensei title keep him from having fun with the students, but also doesn’t miss an opportunity for an important and serious lesson. Most people feel they have to be all fun or all serious instead of balanced.

Ross K. – Virginia – USA

… Rick Tew has real, concrete proof that He can not only teach you the skills required to improve your martial arts but also to improve your LIFE with his help, regardless of your personal situation…

“When I was a teenager I developed an interest in the martial arts. I was also interested in traveling, the outdoors and adventure (new experience’s). Although being a “typical” martial arts instructor, running a dojo was exciting, it was only part of my dream.

As I grew older and started to take students training at the beach, in the mountains and on every type of terrain from the grass to the mud. I also took students with me to rock climb, camp and to unique locations out of the city. I began to realize I wasn’t the only one who enjoyed a complete mind, body and spirit training concept. I have since been doing this for over 20 years and have created a system that is not just a martial art – it truly is a way of life.

This is what led me to take my experience as a martial artist and combine them into a system that included what makes life exciting and how to live a dream. I decided not to just have a martial arts style, but instead – to have a lifestyle. And now I teach others how to do the same.

Here’s something else you should know about me…

I’m interested in working with people who are committed to success! So if you’re serious about living a life that you are in charge of, then I want to work with you.

And that’s why I’ve decided to put a very reasonable price on this program for those interested in martial arts, fitness or just a major life change.”

Through the College of Martial Science and all of my programs, I  am motivated to help students improve their level of happiness, freedom, and adventure.

I look forward to sharing with you the adventures and joys of a lifetime and welcome you to the organization dedicated to giving you the best!

Winjitsu the mental martial art

Winjitsu Book by Rick Tew

Rick felt the mental training was so important, that he wrote 5 books to help Students with their training and life. Buy the books at Winjitsu.com

With Winjitsu’s winning method, strategies and training, you can learn to navigate and overcome any obstacle in life.

People talk about Winjitsu

When we started corresponding many years ago, I had no idea about

  • Healthy lifestyle
  • Training
  • Positive thinking

I had only negative experiences connected with sport, because when I was 10, I incurred a back injury. The doctors told me I shouldn’t train anymore and couldn’t go to physical training lessons at school. Now I know that you should never listen to this nonsense.

So, when Rick Tew started telling me about training, healthy food and positive thinking, it was quite new to me, but I felt it sounded like something I had always known, but forgotten for some reason.

My soul told me that it was mine. And it was Rick who first told me about the connection between body, mind and soul – a concep that is an integral part of yoga. So Rick planted that seed that grew two years later.

I remember Rick sent me the CD’S and his books that helped me to take my first steps and I liked his deep and all-embracing approach. Rick, I am really grateful to you and I am happy that you simply exist and that you are the way you are.

-Ilona S.

Through my association with Rick Tew I have learned and adopted a new way of life. I have also gotten into contact with other sources like books and programs on health. mental health, physical health and spiritual health.  From that, combined with the material from Rick Tew himself, I have taken parts and integrated it in my life.

Marco V. – Holland / Netherlands

I’ve learned so much, upon recollection it’s unbelievable. I’ve learned to maximize my memory potential, set and follow through with goals, make the most out of my time, and take calculated risks. I’ve learned to relax, be happy, enjoy nature, and not worry about being afraid.

Nate P. – Palm Harbor, Florida – USA

Mentally I have learned that I can achieve a much higher level of focus and concentration in my training. Sometimes I found it hard to do this while at home, or I tended not to train for as long, but CMS soon changed that!

Mark W. – Portsmouth – England

Mentally: Learned to set Goals, Create a plan of action, Learn from your mistakes and Always keep moving forward. You can do and accomplish more things then you can ever believe. Learn to visualize your goals, simply set your mind to it and take that first step.

Ortwin C. – Holland / Netherlands

Mentally, I learned how to increase my memory; I learned how to adapt to changes and overcome them by having a good attitude and staying in a positive state of mind. I also learned how to approach obstacles and mental blocks in such a way that I might easily overcome them.

Josiah L. – Chattanooga, Tennessee – USA

Mentally I learned that there are many different ways of thinking, and a strong result of those thoughts are your action and success. Much of what you get out life, and what life is going to offer you, is dependent on how you think.

Kris B. – Canada

Mentally I have learned to be more flexible and have a more open mind. Encouraged to read up on business management subjects (e.g. 1 minute manager, Dale Carnegie) and personal motivation. Learnt that the best way to learn is to be self motivated – be a starter.

Craig H. – Australia

I’ve learned more than could probably ever fully be put to words, but to give a short Cliff’s Notes version: Mentally, I learned that thru the years I became happy with my station in life, which was the quintessential jolly fat guy. I then learned that I didn’t have to always be that guy, and could be what I always wanted to be.

Richard N. – Galveston, Texas – USA

Rick's Mental Martial Art

In the martial arts, we have learned that there is a mind-body connection. It is why Rick wrote the book series WinjitsuThe Mental Martial Art.

NinjaGym® programs are not only about building a stronger body, a flexible body, a stable body or a body that can endure. The focus behind NinjaGym® is to provide you a place where we come together to also build a Stronger Mind, a more Flexible Mind, a more Stable Mind and a Mentality to Endure. Improving both your body and mind while connecting with great people from around the world.

At NinjaGym®, we follow the Mind and Body approach for overall student success. Although physical training in the Martial Science already offers feelings of joy and adventure, we also need routine and focused mental development. At NinjaGym®, we provide this growth through a mental system Rick Tew has developed a mental martial art called, WINJITSU.

With martial arts training, you might learn self-defense and how to be prepared for a physical situation required for survival. But in modern times, with our challenges being more mental than physical, your mind is most likely what needs to be managed and trained.

Your mind power will take you a lot further than your physical power. With the system of Winjitsu, we to teach you How to Be a Black Belt in what you do.

The Winjitsu training program and books are broken down into the following 5 levels:

1. ACE
Achieving Combined Excellence
Finding your winning Personality

2. MAK
Motivation – Action – Knowledge
Making it Happen

3. MBS
Mind, Body, and Spirit
The Synergy for Success

4. NRG
Neuro Reasons for Growth
Internal Power for Achievement

5. CMT
Creative Mental Training
The Magic of our Imagination

This complete program for mental training uses modern strategies available today that will help you become the best you can be.

Everyone has challenges from time to time and many have these mental shadows sneaking up on them on a daily basis.  You need a system for defeating these negative Ninja and master your mental domain.

Mr. Tew suggests you learn to control your mind through life-balance, use of your physiology, and the understanding basic neuroscience.  All of which can help you to learn:

  • How to improve Self-confidence
  • How to improve Self-discipline
  • How to improve Self-power
  • How to improve Self-control
  • How to improve Self-image

Winjitsu also teaches you:

  • How to overcome Fear
  • How to overcome Doubt
  • How to overcome Negativity
  • How to overcome Stress
  • How to overcome Laziness

NinjaGym® Martial Arts Fitness

We follow the symbol of the Ninja to represent a strong heart, being patient and to endure. This requires habitual training and daily focus.

Rick Tew created NinjaGym® based on his warm-up classes that used a fitness obstacle course with climbing, jumping and sprinting.

People talk about NinjaGym

I’ve learned the restraints of my body – how and when to push them! Many things are challenging at CMS, but with a good belief in yourself, you can achieve great things!

Mark W. – Portsmouth – England

The way is in training, repetition is the mother of skill… If you want to master any physical skill you have to take initiative and train hard. Don’t procrastinate, because tomorrow will never come. If it’s too easy, find a bigger challenge . That is the way you grow.

Ortwin C. – Holland / Netherlands

I learned the importance of eating right and keeping your body in a clean and toxin free state. I also learned what my strengths and weaknesses are; and the steps I can take to correct my weaknesses and become a better fighter, and a healthier person.

Josiah L. – Chattanooga, Tennessee – USA

I learned to push myself well beyond my past comfort zones that I used to hide behind. If there is one thing you’ll definitely learn at CMS, it’s that when you train in the Mountains…the Mountains are going to kick your ass…haha. Growing up at sea level didn’t help when we started training hard. But thru persistence, and sheer determination it was overcome.

Richard N. – Galveston, Texas – USA

The way he teaches his system, he helps you get interested in many aspects of the martial training. He is one of the only adults I know that is in better shape than many younger people who also exercise often.

Carlos P. – Durango – Mexico

I have learned more than I can put into this response. I suppose to sum it up I can do things with my body that I never knew I could do. I have surprised and surpassed my own expectations many times over. The best part is that the learning never stops and there is always a new level reach and to kick your butt and make you want more.

Kris B. – Canada

Martial Arts Fitness

A few of the benefits from daily martial arts:

  • Feel better each day overall
  • Fight the aging process
  • Have a happier outlook
  • Interrupt limiting life challenges
  • Reduce the chance to develop a disease
  • Increase strength, flexibility, and cardio
  • Drop the fat fast

Most people want to get in shape fast, learn a new skill or improve their overall health and at the same time, many people feel like they don’t have the time to exercise or work on self-improvement.

NinjaGym® programs allow people with real challenges a chance to escape the 9-5 environment and get away in order to eliminate some weaknesses and improve on some strengths. We also can help you with developing a routine so when you do go back home, you can still reap the rewards of consistent and never-ending improvement.

The NinjaGym® Bodyweight and Fitness Training concepts focus on 5 key areas of development:

  1. Strength
  2. Agility
  3. Flexibility
  4. Endurance
  5. Cardio

Rick originally created NinjaGym® to represent the way we do our bodyweight training and warm up in all of our martial arts and fitness programs.  Before or after class, we usually do High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) what we call a 2 minute-ninja workout following this pattern:

1 minute of high-intensity (near max effort) training on a specific physical challenge or obstacle

1 minute of rest or warm up for the next exercise by doing a low-intensity version of the upcoming drill

Typically, we would do pure bodyweight exercises like Ninja Burpees, crunches, lunges, squats, and push-ups or incorporate tools like a punching bag, kettlebells, exercise balls and gymnastic rings.  Recent studies have proven that you do not need hours in the gym to achieve the same benefits.  Science shows that you can reach your fitness goals with only a few key minutes a few times a day if you perform that training at a high intensity.  Believe it our not, you can even achieve impressive results with only a 10-minute workout every couple of days. This is possible with interval and intermittent training.

In our camps and retreats, we use various obstacles (Ninja style) that allow one to use their natural body weight for improving health and fitness.  This is a great way to work out and stay in shape because it allows you to focus on developing natural movements.  A great way for you to develop a personal fitness routine is to simply consider the natural movement one might perform in everyday life:

  • Sitting
  • Squatting
  • Lifting
  • Moving
  • Twisting
  • Stretching

Then, you simply make a workout that includes many of the above natural body movements and you have the basis for a workout.

We use bodyweight training for all of our programs as the foundation for fitness and health.

Our martial arts uses the body weight and combined with our multi-martial art system, you have a lot of variety. You have a great way to stay limber, quick, and in shape while improving overall conditioning.

It is our belief that a good martial arts program is the absolute best way to be fit and stay healthy.

The martial arts also provides natural muscle confusion.  Now when you first hear that term you might be a bit confused too.

Why would we want to confuse our muscles?  If you are doing the same exercise every day (riding a bike or jogging), then you are not pushing the body into new territory.  The body needs and wants variety in its exercise routine in order to grow stronger.  If you keep doing only the same exercise, the body does not develop.

Rick Tew’s NinjaGym® martial arts training provides an incredible amount of variety to supply what the body needs.  Rick Tew and the NinjaGym® Team have created programs that help you to maximize your efforts by including fun and effective martial art skills.

I have been involved with bodyweight fitness (more specifically in the Martial Arts) the majority of my life.

For more than 20 years I have been teaching Students the benefits of bodyweight training. And after all this time, it has only gotten stronger and more popular.

Now you see people trying to claim their fame for doing one arm pull-ups, gymnastics outside or taking their bodyweight climbing skills to the American Ninja Warrior TV show.

Here is a list of what we are:

  • Normal people that want to do their best in life, but still stay in shape
  • Fitness programs that stick to the core beliefs of bodyweight training
  • Help others achieve great results and make new friends
  • People that know that doing a backflip does not mean you are saving the world

Here is a list of what we are not:

  • Get ripped quick, steroid, or PE drug abusing groupies
  • Bar thugs that still think standing behind their EGO looks cool
  • A few that only want to SHOWBOAT their new skills
  • People that train their bodies but not their minds

Great for Men and Women

If you want to go old school, call it Calisthenics (bodyweight workouts), we’ve been doing it for centuries (think back to physical education in grade school).

NinjaGym® Bodyweight training is great for men and women. In fact, it provides equal benefits for both.

Consider that the word Calisthenics is made up of the greek words kalos (Beauty) and sthenos (Strength). Perhaps with that in mind, you can see it as the perfect workout for couples too.

When you think of a Ninja, you think of a person that is agile, in control of their body and has some gymnastic skills. If that Ninja were in a Gym, what exercises would top the list?

Bodyweight exercises and calisthenics are the foundational moves one needs for any sport – including the martial arts.

All you need to thrive now

Make life a BLAST

Rick Tew's BLAST Tour

BLAST is an acronym for Breathing, Laughing,  Adventuring, Stretching, and Thinking. All integrated as part of the CMS experience.

The program includes various ways to implement the concept of making life a BLAST that are simple and easy to apply daily.

Spirit and the BLAST experience means living

Rick Tew put in a lot of effort to bring a Mind-Body-Spirit balance to the martial art camps. Our courses provide an equal balance of all three areas. But few understand what we mean when we say, “Spirit.”

For us, it represents Life-Spirit and our definition of this Life Spirit is:

  • Spending quality time with others of like mind
  • Getting out into nature and the great outdoors
  • Sharing space with animals and other creatures

Being part of Rick Tew’s NinjaGym® Program is a lot more than just going to California or Thailand to learn the martial arts. We also encourage participants get together for outdoor adventures that include hiking, camping, rock climbing, road trips, multiple terrain training and other mini-adventures. This is one of the reasons we run our martial arts camps near places like Yosemite National Park, California or on tropical islands in Asia.

As young children, we invested much of our time adventuring, exploring and discovering. At NinjaGym® we want to recapture and maintain that healthy attitude we had when we were young. Life should be fun, include regular adventures, and offer new experiences. It should be a BLAST!!

Students share their travels

Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Rosarita Mexico, California, Yosemite National Park, Malibu Creek and Death Valley.

Jabez P. – Acton, Maine – USA

Yosemite NP, Malibu Creek, Disneyland, “The Beach”, Los Angeles, rock climbing at Yosemite NP, Fresno, Oakhurst (yay!), Disneyland, Las Vegas, London Bridge, DragonFest (martial arts show), bear-watching at Yosemite, Universal Studios and did I mention Disneyland? 😉

Craig H. – Australia

Travel is also a big part of the CMS experience (see photos of many locations where we have been and had fun). During my time in the CMS program I have traveled to Europe, Mexico, and various locations over the west of America. Places such as California, Arizona and Nevada. Within these locations I have been fortunate enough to visit sites and have adventures in many of the major cities and natural wonders. Some places in America such as L.A., Las Vegas, San Francisco, Yosemite, Joshua Tree, and the Grand Canyon. We chased Mickey, tested our nerves on some of the most daring rides, and enjoyed some of nature’s best offered playgrounds.

Kris B. – Canada

First: To California, I am from The Netherlands. Secondary: Through my first experiences in rock climbing with Rick Tew I became a climber myself and climbed in numerous locations in countries like Germany, Belgium, France, Spain, Switzerland, Austria, and South Africa.

Joost V. – Holland / Netherlands

I’ve seen a lot of California, Los Angeles, Fresno, Yosemite National park, Ahwahnee and Oakhurst – YEAH! Joshua Tree National park, Malibu creek etc. We went on a road trip to Colorado, so I saw Death Valley, Nevada, Utah, Colorado and a bit of Wyoming. Also did and El Paso trip where we drove through Arizona to get to Texas and even went to Juarez Mexico for the nightlife.

Cedric C. – Sherbrooke, Quebec – Canada

I’ve been to so many places in the short time I’ve spent here, it’s staggering. I’ve hiked to the top of Yosemite, sweat in Death Valley, climbed at Malibu Creek and Tollhouse, flew in a helicopter into the Grand Canyon, walked up and down the Las Vegas Strip, toured Universal Studios in LA., slept on the beach on the California coast, visited the piers and Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, got into trouble in Mexico, climbed giant trees in Sequoia National Park, and I’ve only been attended two phases!

Nate P. – Palm Harbor, Florida – USA

As one of the pioneering RTMS team members, I was fortunate enough to be part of the first Travel and Training program. Could not imagine a better way to discover California and the surrounding states on my first visit to America. I was fortunate enough to be part of the First CMS program. I was able to participate in several demonstrations and seminars in different European Countries. I was able to run my own RTMS group in Holland for several years and share this great system with many students. I’ve had the opportunity to lead a great one week RTMS seminar in the Caribbean Island of Aruba together with RTMS team member Michel Kristians.

Ortwin C. – Holland / Netherlands

One, I traveled most of the continental US in just arriving each phase to CMS from where I’m usually at in both Texas or Michigan. I might not have done that on my own accord without CMS.

Two, with CMS, I have been all around California:

Down around LA, San Diego, Yosemite National Park, and many other places.

I’ve also been to Las Vegas, and got to experience all of that.

Lastly there was our trip to Mexico which I’m sure none of us who went will ever forget. There is something to be said when you unleash 11 Ninja’s into Mexico during Spring Break.

Richard N. – Galveston, Texas – USA

I am from Holland and I have been to the States (Yosemite, LA, Las Vegas, Grand Canyon, Joshua Tree, to name just a few), Spain, Paris, and Belgium. Also, I have been on stages when we did seminars for companies, on TV and radio, at martial arts demo’s and so many other things.

Marco V. – Holland / Netherlands

The pictures on the web site are from places like Yosemite National Park, Malibu Creek, Tollhouse rock, Death Valley, The Grand Canyon, Venice Beech, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Mexico, Holland, and many, many more places; all of which I have been to with Rick Tew’s Camp of Martial Science. I have already been to more places in a few months then most people have their entire lives.

Jeff T. – Canada

During my short time there, we took two different Yosemite hikes, went to Malibu Creek and a nearby beach, into the LA area for Venice beach and the Universal City walk, to an excellent rock climbing spot east of Fresno, balanced out with a laid-back trip to Edison Lake.

Ross K. – Virginia – USA

BLAST Experience with Rick Tew

Nate P. – Palm Harbor, Florida – USA

I’ve experienced so much… Friends, adventure, training, injury, accomplishment, growth, the list goes on and on.

Just about everything you can imagine from all of these locales. We had fun out on the town in LA, but we were also there to train. Which we did, and like we always do…we push the limits of that training. Then while in Yosemite we get to fully experience a lush landscape of nature with spectacular views and a awe inspiring wilderness.

Richard N. – Galveston, Texas – USA

Cedric C. – Sherbrooke, Quebec – Canada

Got beat up, kicked some butt, got physically and mentally, damn even spiritually drained sometimes. Had tons of fun doing new things, seeing the great outdoors. I did the JOHN’s incredible pizza place experience too many times to keep count haha.

Marco V. – Holland / Netherlands

During the years that I was highly involved in RTMS I experienced everything from being very nervous before a belt exam, thinking I will forget the form I learned, to feeling like a king after I did my first back flip. To describe all that I experienced is quite hard, since there are so many experiences. I experienced group spirit during long training sessions, a sense of achievement after having climbed Point Dume, pain after the 1000th time trying to do a proper back handspring, fun during the trips we made like the TTT tour, excitement during the demo’s and tv appearances and peace after a meditation session.

Josiah L. – Chattanooga, Tennessee – USA

I experienced more than any normal person should in two months. I was tested both physically and mentally. I experienced some pretty serious martial arts training and I had some great times with all my new friends. I loved the rock climbing in the mountains and the training in Woodward Park and everything in between. The best experience was meeting so many people from such different walks of life.

Craig H. – Australia

My best experience was learning to rock climb. It is something I would never have done in a million years if I hadn’t gone to CMS. We don’t live a long time and should enjoy what there is to offer and rock climbing is actually stacks of fun. As a flow-on, I have now taken up kayaking, mountain biking, etc. I also learnt stacks about martial arts and being more flexible in my attitudes and thinking. I also learnt a lot about health issues by listening to some of the texts available at CMS and have altered my life-style considerably.

Ortwin C. – Holland / Netherlands

One of the best periods in my life, in which I learned a lot, lived through a lot of great experiences, met a lot of people , made many new friends and was privileged to be able to share my knowledge and skills with my fellow RTMS team members and students.

Ross K. – Virginia – USA

The whole group bonds together real well, no one is entirely sure what to expect so the camaraderie is great. We were all in it together and determined to do our best. The training was intense, and free time was savored instead of taken for granted and wasted.

Carlos Puente – Durango – Mexico

Learned to appreciate and respect nature, wilderness. Also how to eat healthy and to get in pretty good shape. Lots of training and spending some time with people all over this world.

Craig Peterson – Cedar Rapids, Iowa – USA

I experienced both sides of almost every emotion and learned more about who I am and what I want in two months than I had in 21 years

Mark W. – Portsmouth – England

I experienced the vastness of the States, it never takes me that long to go anywhere where I’m from! You drive for 5 hours in England and you’re in a different country! I also experienced the best time of my life so far. You make so many friends in the training area, especially since these are the types of people whom share your interests and don’t give you an ‘off’ look when you talk about martial arts!

Jabez P. – Acton, Maine – USA

Rock climbing, shinai wars, grappling and sparring matches, the beaches of LA, in which I saw a drum circle playing drums to the sunset and the entire beach set of Charlie’s Angels 2 forced to move because of front and back flip training. I also witnessed the gulf of Mexico and got to see the beauty and grandeur of Yosemite National Park.

Kris B. – Canada

I experienced a great deal during my stay and training in association with Mr. Tew and the CMS program. I have gained massive amounts of experiences, and situational confrontations that have helped mold me into a superior form of myself. I have done more in a few months of being there then some people have done in their entire lives, I think that speaks enough for itself. Out of hard work in the program I have had countless amazing experiences. For that I am extremely grateful and despite any “hardships” I had to endure it was very worth it.

Shawn H. Washington USA

Good but hard times, I had to put myself to test, I passed sometimes and failed others. It is a different lifestyle while you are there and you get to see many things most people never do, as well as experience the things that the general public is too busy for.

Jamien O. – Santa Barbara, California – USA

I experienced living life away from the distractions of my home. I met some incredible people that I considers friends for life.

Self-defense tailored to you

Personal Security Course

The PSC program offers Students a practical strategy for realistic self-defense. Easy to learn 123 concepts for the Mind, Body and Tactics.

A core strategy behind PSC is to increase ones own ability to defend themselves and others by improving on their base chance for survival.

People talk about PSC

It’s emphasis on a realistic self defense. If it works use it. No useless forms, just how do I defend myself or others. No competition with other Martial arts or styles, if this technique from that art works for you then encompasses it in your style. It offers the opportunity to challenge yourself.

Joost V. – Holland

I never experienced martial arts prior to CMS, but being a member of CMS has exposed me to several styles which I don’t believe measure up to martial science as far as effectiveness goes. Martial science is very realistic and can turn anyone into a survivalist of everyday life. The martial arts teaches you how to dance, mimic an animal, fight in a tournament, or choreograph movies. A practitioner of martial science knows that fancy kicks and punches belong in the movies and nowhere else, knows what will save him/her on the streets, whether it be to fight or flee.

Jabez P. – Acton, Maine – USA

Other MA schools only teach a fighting system like a competition and non -realistic self-defense techniques; in RTMS you learn real combat training applied like full contact sparring and situations for real self-defense. Not to mention weaponry, outdoor training, rock climbing and more.

Carlos P. – Durango – Mexico

Personal Security Course

PSC is focused on mind, body, technique and in that order.

It is important to first learn theory and basic principles of psychology first.

After an understanding of self-defense, you will learn physical skills that can make the difference between life or death.

Finally, we focus on self-defense techniques and scenarios so you can develop reactions and learn to control your fear.

This training is integrated into all our in-depth martial art training programs and martial science training. So students on any of our courses will be getting training is PSC.

This program teaches realistic routines to follow for practicing true self-defense. If you are interested ONLY in the PSC program and do not want to follow the other programs and routines, you will need to contact us for a custom program.

Please note that if you list this as one of your goals for any of our programs, we will do our best to ensure that you learn PSC while attending one of our specialized programs.

the best of both worlds

Ninja-MMA Modern Martial Arts

Rick Tew’s Martial Science (RTMS) combines Mondern Ninjitsu and Mixed Martial Arts for a complete martial art system.

Learn the complete system while practicing each technique for a realistic use in MMA, Personal Security and Street Combat.

People talk about RTMS

Rick’s system is unique in both the breadth and depth of his training as well as the speed at which material is ingrained.

Craig P. – Cedar Rapids – Iowa

The effectiveness. The ease with which a person can learn the techniques and retain that knowledge. With the Martial Science anyone anywhere can learn a very practical and effective style of self defense.

Josiah L. – Chattanooga, Tennessee – USA

The Martial Science is all about Variation, we tend not to say, “this is a martial art” or “this is a punch defense,” we say, “this is more of a collaboration of different styles.” We are taught “body movement” not “punch defenses.” Martial science binds so many useful skills together like grappling, sparring and takedown techniques – but CMS / RTMS is more of a life science; a guide for training, living and eating right! It will affect your everyday life. Once you leave here you will never forget the experience.

Mark W. Portsmouth – England

The uniqueness stands in its diversity and application to go outside of boxes and boundaries. It’s a martial art system with a “custom feature” wherein you may create your own sense of what it is for you. Instead of conforming and molding into someone else’s creation, you are encouraged to mold yourself. Kick, punch, flip, grapple, and sneak your way into your own sense of being a Total Warrior.

Kris B. – Newfoundland – Canada.

Rick’s system changes every day. This is because it teaches movement, i.e. how to move, rather than a small set of moves. Teaching how to move keeps your mind open thus allowing you to take up new ideas. It is not at all boring as drills are constantly changing and training locations change.

Craig H. – Australia

In my eyes, RTMS is probably one of the only fully rounded systems in the entire world. It doesn’t focus on just one area of things. We’ll train in grappling, kicks, strikes, weapons, etc. And then blend them together to have us ready for whatever might happen in real world scenarios. Plus we don’t try to block attacks. Which I feel is very important, because in a real fight you don’t want to always be on the defensive. Overall, I think we just have the most realistic fighting system in the world.

Richard N. – Galveston, Texas – USA

Well it’s kind of like MMA only more, since you do not focus only on One on One ring fighting. You will have multiple attacker situations, weapons, involved in the outdoors (dirt, concrete, improvised weapons, etc). The system has a huge amount of variety, rolls and falls, stand up fighting, ground fighting, stealth, weapons, survival, and all the mental aspects. So until you are good at everything, don’t expect your black belt (:

Cedric C. – Sherbrooke, Quebec – Canada

The unique thing about Martial Science is that it is open to new ideas and techniques and therefor ever growing; it encompasses a wide range of activities from ground fighting to rock climbing, from knife fighting to survival skills, everything you can possibly associate with Martial Arts. It is dynamic, modern, fun and very effective in real life situations.

Marco V. – Holland / Netherlands

It’s diverse, complex but simple, fun, challenging, indoors and outdoors. It’s more than just punching and kicking, you actually are required to think about what your doing. You get to travel and see amazing places. You get to develop skills that otherwise might never be noticed. You learn to be a team player, but have enough space to express your own creativity.

Ortwin C. – Holland / Netherlands

Rick Tew’s Martial Science covers all aspects about what being a warrior is about. The stuff you only dream about and never think possible for one person to do. Climb mountains, kick butt, use weapons, run a business, and be the best at whatever you do.

Nate P. – Palm Harbor, Florida – USA

Ninja-MMA as a system

The Martial Science is an open-minded multi-martial art system that encompasses almost every aspect of the martial arts, with fun entertaining techniques and realistic self-defense tactics to make it a well-rounded program for beginners and advanced Students alike.

Rick Tew’s Martial Science (RTMS) is not just another Martial Art. RTMS is geared towards the enhancement of Mind, Body and Spirit and it is a Life-Style. We focus on developing a strong character, self-esteem, life enhancing goals, self-confidence, self-discipline, physical conditioning and building knowledge through the martial arts experience.

Rick Tew’s Martial Science is a combination of effective, usable, realistic martial arts principles that make it into its elite system. It is a Modern Ninjitsu system. Because students are not expected to conform to an art, they can use a scientific approach to being their best. A typical martial art can be limited to its tradition, yet RTMS is focused more on the student rather than its master. It is ever changing and it is not limited to the approach of having any labels, set kata’s or “do as I do” training. The student is in charge of his/her training and Self-Powered.

9 out of 10 participants want to join our program for training in the Martial Arts or Modern American Ninjitsu. Since this is a priority for our Students, it is important that we work hard to meet these expectations. We do this by teaching all areas of the martial arts. This includes a multi-martial arts training and concepts that are:

  • Realistic for use
  • Fun to learn
  • Interesting to do

Rick Tew’s Martial Science and Modern American Ninjitsu is a total combination of effective and applicable principles that makes it into a unique system for both beginners and advanced students alike.

The foundation of Rick Tew’s Martial Science includes a wide range of techniques that is both practical and effective. There are 5 Ranking Levels to Instructor status. Each level includes two skills from the following 9 areas of focus:

  1. Stances
  2. Rolls
  3. Falls
  4. Strikes
  5. Kicks
  6. Body Movement
  7. Knowledge (mind)
  8. Combat and Self-defense strategies
  9. Weapons

The martial arts training you will endure is a path to achieving a greater self-worth.

It represents our hardcore martial arts training program for students that want to learn everything there is in Rick Tew’s Modern American Ninjitsu while having the option to also train in full-contact sparring and grappling.

This is for people that like to get dirty, play rough and can handle rolling around in the grass or throwing each other in the ocean.

This Ninja-MMA concept is for students that want to invest time each day into learning multiple martial art skills (strikes, kicks, weapons, self-defense, stances, rolls, falls, etc), and have the option to practice and train in grappling and full-contact sparring (commonly known as MMA – mixed martial arts).

Founded on the principles of Modern American Ninjitsu as taught by Rick Tew, students will get a complete course in the arts of mind, body and the spirit.

The Program is designed to work for students of all levels of martial arts experience. From highly motivated beginners to highly dedicated advanced students.

This is taught at corporate management programs and in classes for beginners. This is a simple program for beginners and professionals to learn that only requires them to learn 10 simple stances. However, Rick Tew has gone the extra mile in creating a plethora of connective skills with each stance. It is fun, easy to learn and adjustable to any skill level.

The concept is that less is more and 1 is many. By learning these simple 10 Stances, you will be learning and entire multi-martial art system too. It is a simple step-by-step training program that anyone can follow and use as they so desire. With only these 10 Steps, you will have access to over 100 actual techniques that create a complete system that you can continue at home or on your free time. Take 2 minutes or 2 hours.

Here are a few of the areas of focus that this 10 Stance Mini-Martial Art offers:

* Martial Art Stances
* Easy to remember cardio routine
* Ninja Yoga using stretching and isometrics
* 10 Step Breathing routine
* Unique self-defense uses based on the 10 Stances
* Applications of each stance
