Aikido Urakami Dojo

  • Aikido

An Aikikai-recognized aikido dojo in Tokyo's Sumida ward, led by Urakami Yutaka, 6th dan, a student of Tada Hiroshi, with four classes a week in three public budo halls; a first trial class is free and later classes can be joined as a visitor for a single fee.

The style
Aikikai aikido, the modern budo created by Morihei Ueshiba (1883 to 1969), with no matches or contests. Students register with the Aikikai and test for kyu and dan grades as their days of practice and skill grow.
Lineage
The head teacher, Urakami, has trained under Tada Hiroshi Shihan since 1990 as a student of the Gesshoji Dojo, and opened this dojo in Sumida in April 2012 with Tada's permission.
The teacher
He began aikido in 1976 and holds 6th dan. He teaches four classes a week at three halls in the ward.
