Bond Street Dojo
- Aikido
A not-for-profit aikido dojo in East Harlem, founded in 1973 by Terry Dobson and Ken Nisson and affiliated with the Aikido Schools of Ueshiba. Out-of-town guests and members of other aikido dojos can train on a daily or weekly mat fee.
- The style
- Aikido built on traditional open-hand and weapons arts: strikes and grabs, joint locks and throws, rolls and falls, with techniques based on movement, timing and balance. The dojo is affiliated with the Aikido Schools of Ueshiba.
- Lineage
- Terry Dobson, the first American uchi-deshi of O-Sensei, began at Hombu Dojo in 1960 and trained with him until 1969, alongside Mitsugi Saotome, who founded the ASU. Dobson and Ken Nisson founded the dojo in 1973.
- The teacher
- Chief instructor Richard Webb began in 1999 under Lee Crawford and has trained with Hiroshi Ikeda, Mary Heiny and Saotome. Chris Jordan, handed the dojo's teaching in 1980, is still a senior instructor.
