Casa da Capoeira Pelourinho
- Capoeira
A non-profit capoeira house in Salvador's Pelourinho where mestres of Bahian street and Angola capoeira teach classes with berimbau, songs and the art's history. Its classes are for beginners to advanced students, Brazilians and foreigners alike.
- The style
- Bahian capoeira taught as living Afro-Brazilian heritage, with its music, songs, instruments and history alongside the kicks and movements. Classes carry the street capoeira of the Pelourinho and the Mercado Modelo, closely tied to Capoeira Angola.
- Lineage
- Mestre Jorge Encruzilhada, born in 1957, began capoeira in 1965 as a student of Mestre Caiçara and Mestre Paulo dos Anjos.
- The teacher
- Mestre Pitbull, the house's president, began on the streets of the Pelourinho. His classes go into the music too: berimbau rhythms and traditional songs.
